Another vintage

Cosme Palacio y Hermanos 1995

Bodegas Palacio
Rioja, Spain

Watch out - Santa is watching you! Merry Christmas!
And A Happy New Vintage!

On the third week of this year I presented the vintage 1993. In the future I plan - from time to time - to re-review previous wines when a new vintage starts to interest me.

Our wine is a very dark red - much darker than the famous Reindeer's sniffing-organ. Cosme 1995 would give the Rednose a pretty powerful experience. Cosme's nose has that power and pleasing dark berries.
The medium-full body starts with a taste of lively, fresh grapes, and picks up stronger hues very soon. Dark aromas and gooseberry tones linger pleasantly. A balanced and durable acidity follows along. A hint of liquorice, and a drop of vanilla backs up the wine well.
This wine is still young, and will develop and soften within a year or two. But now it's great company even at the Christmas dinner.

Wine of the Week wishes a very rejuvenating and tasty Christmas - and will be back to report what Santa brought! Remember to melt the tasty gifts of Christmas with a good wine!

"Avidly testing reasonably priced wine with a view and a vision in mind."
