PATRAS & 1st of May EVE's FOLK FESTIVAL - Monday, April 30, 2012

I had several hours in Patras before my boat to Venice, and quite by accident I spent most of the time in a street taverna by a small park. All-day-long there were small groups of people, dressed in traditional local costumes, coming and going. It was nice to watch them between sips of wine, BUT the real thing occured to me a lot later.

The groups were preparing for a common march to another, bigger park to celebrate 1st of May with folk-dancing. It seemed to me that all the types of traditional costumes from all around Greece were present here!

One simply gets lucky sometimes by just sitting down in the right place!

The master-of-ceremonies-lady took particular care about the way the dresses were worn.
