Feb. 22, 2007 till next entry These days, after the previous entry (Feb. 19), have been gloriously warm because of the mild winds from Africa. Daytime high temperatures about 18oC to 20oC in the shade. Night-time rains have some of the Sahara sand in it, but it's been easy work to brush it off the patio. In Kalyves there is not only one, but several weedy rivers with clear and clean water. Some of them are so clear that it may be difficult to believe that the weeds in the photo are under water. The rivers give a very special effect to the seawater by the sandy beach. The surface of the sea, with a thin layer of the sweet water from the rivers, is refreshingly cool even in the summer. The best of the rivers runs past a very pleasant taverna-cafe called "POTAMOS" (RIVER). In that taverna you can sit and enjoy these magnificent lilies (krinos) starting their bloom by the riverbed right now! [ If you see only this frame, click here to see the complete diary ] |
