Our Matrona - Sigi - exceeded the proverbial Italian mother figure on all the down-to-earth counts. And having those short legs, with power enough in the paws to turn any garden, any island, any forest upside down, she was always as near the soil, the essence, as any matrona who has ever been painted in any Italian masterpiece.
Sigi would be worth the finest wine there is to be reviewed on her page. But there was such strength of mind in her, and no snobbery - only a totally direct approach - that her palate enjoying any gourmet dinner, and it´s ingredients (starting from raw garlic & a peppery sauce, going through salads of all sorts, preferably with feta, and winding up to stolen steaks, christmas presents of salmon, a love for lasagne, anything we barbequed and seasoned, and enjoying eating black-currants & black-berries straight from the bush, and even reaching up from her height to get an apple from a bended tree...) - deserves, demands, a totally true-wine page. A wine with the odours and essence of the many, many tree-stumps Sigi totally explored, and the rabbits and foxes she chased but (fortunately) never caught, and the hedgehogs she fought (usually with ends even). - And, after all she was a human, human dog being aware of everything that happened in the house, and taking part in it with a great passion. Rising to her hind legs in the morning to greet us, rolling over to be scratched in the belly, licking our noses, drinking her morning milk after our breakfast and coffee...
Apart from finding (again) a wine with a dog theme, this Primitivo has the essence of a rustic italian, matrona-served, wine which Sigi would have enjoyed as her soul-mate, if she´d ever sipped a wine (there she had her only shortcoming as a connoisseur of taste). It has a feeling of those strong, yet soft arms a true matrona uses to embrace her nearest, the arms that can be used to protect - as Sigi did to everyone who slept with her. Beside Sigi your dreams were guarded better than in a Swiss bank. Anyone taking a step closer than 3 meters from the one asleep was met by an unbelievably large and terrifying canine - who at the next instant licked the sleeping person´s cheek. And after the sleeper was awake, and upright, Sigi would lick the hand of a friendly approacher.
This wine is unpretensious, but clearly aware of her true worth, soft and strong, as a dog can be kind and unyielding, sincere, passionate and demanding, but true with her direct approach.

Perhaps you´ll sip this wine, or any you have at hand, to Sigi´s memory.

Colori... the name brings to mind a world of luscious colours and senses, like being on an island. When enjoying wine a few senses such as taste and smell play an important role. We all know that dogs have an incredible sense of smell. You can even train them to tell if the wine is corked! A good bottle of wine is great when enjoyed among friends... they say that dogs are man´s best friends so we suggest you invite some very good friends to enjoy this bottle of wine in the company of your furry friends.
