A hum is a deep, or high, or in-between sound coming from one's inside, and it can last for minutes if the hummer has good lungs. Sometimes that makes very beautiful music. Basically the elements are simple; a human sound that is non-verbal, and becomes nuanced by varying the depth of the location of air-pressure towards the nose when producing the hum. Anything between the back of the nose, through the larynx, and all the way down to the abdomen, not missing the lung region, can be used. But your mouth has to be shut.

And with a bit of musical melody the hum becomes every-man's music where no error can be made. The inner ear picks it all up so much more perfectly than anything with lyrics. Even the professional singers take a rescue in the hum when lyrics get lost. - But they tend to open their mouths with their "hum"!

What I suggest is this; open your mouth, and nostrils, to this inexpensive syrah. Swallow the sip slowly, feeling the nice linger of the little tickle of spices - and shut your mouth to HUMMMMMMM!

With the taste of this humble hum in your mouth, and with an appreciation and understanding for getting a reason to do so, you will be enjoying one of the simple things in life that are nearly free.
