...rose up for a standing ovation... I make the same conclusion.
A noble Rioja. You always recognize it : the broad nose, the dark scent, the barrel tar... And the Baron has a mighty vintage in the bottle.
Leathery ripe, dark, and overflowing gooseberries in the powerful, mature taste. Softness that doesn't (and does) wiggle, but opens up right on your lips, and carries it all the way home. A wine you want to sit with into the night. Best just to be enjoyed, and taken pleasure of. My recommendation, especially as the price is more than o.k.
Tempranillo 90%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10%. Grape skins for 17 days in maseration (and you can notice that!). Ageing for 12 months in new (tasty!) American oak, and 24 months in bottles. A new (since 1985) wine firm straight to the top of tastes.
