RAIMAT Abadia Reserva 1989

First I thought I should riddle you: Which wine sings with Ghaled's style (Rai) and feeds Swedish food (mat), and puts an English article in front of a German bath for the Finnish-German-Swedish slide with a stutter? (A-bad-dia). Once again my wise wife came to rescue: "RAIMAT Abadia Reserva 1989 is a really fine wine. Is there need for a riddle? Why not let it speak for itself?" That's a fact. Costers del Segre has produced a wine with a strong body, quite in the style of Murrieta's Rioja. It has a nose of concentrated raspberries, a colour with 5-7 steps of dark browns on the way to the darkest of cellars, and expectations. A hint of cigars and cedar hits you on your way to the taste. The taste: a liquorice not in the mouth of a child but in the dreams of an adult. Merging with gooseberries and cinnamon apples in a dark way. A touch of coffee in the after-taste. And the cycle of taste is not a meagre one. Your mouth has been conquered, your palate sails, and your taste buds float, receiving peppers and mild paprika... Just now I feel that this huge bubbly-wine-consortium has released a real character in it's red wine - and such a value to it's taste that it can't be measured in euros or dollars. And that's just fine. P.S. But bear in mind that Abadia Reserva differs radically from the present, ordinary slide-bather! The Reserva has 9 asterisks! |
