Our sea on Dec. 24 (a short video)

Last evening we were again with Nikos in the taverna Mythos. He did not confess having given us the beautiful array of oranges we found yesterday by our gate. We all three started to suspect that our closest Greek neighbour, Dimitris might have been behind this act!

So, today we took some retaliatory action and went over to Dimitri's house with a bottle of Kiti's Xmas wine and one of Hannu's snow photos to give him as Xmas gifts. Dimitris confessed the orange scheme, and retaliated us with a bottle of his own white wine!

With this label of Kiti's Xmas wine we want to wish you all a very, very Merry Xmas!
The little (15mm in height) creature in Hannu's photo is one of the unbelievable Cretan wild orchids.

From Dimitri's home we continued our retaliatory mission to Niko's home to deliver our Xmas gifts to our dear, dear elfman. He retaliated by coming to our house to decorate the Xmas tree he had given us a couple of days ago! And by coming over he also brought Ilios with him! A great gift after a grey morning similar to yesterday's weather.

Nikos brought many of these arbus berries - koymara - and wrapped them in a silver folio to decorate our Xmas tree.

In the evening we'll go to the taverna KOYMANDROS with Irmeli and Mikko to enjoy Xmas dinner/supper and local bouzouki! That will (hopefully) be the subject of our next page in this diary.

The weather aftercast for today and the previous night in Kalyves:
A dull, grey morning. Some hours of sunshine, bought by Nikos, but no great temperatures. Later in the afternoon it seemed that the clouds are gathering again, but with a possibility of clearer skies approaching from the west. Nikos told that a forecast had promised better weather for tomorrow. We hope the forecasters are right!

Today's high about +15°C, last night's low +8.5°C.
